Two materials.
Glass on dark, paper on light. The material follows the ground, and the two never appear on the same ground.
Glass, on dark
Fill painted to the padding box, a gradient stroke painted to the border box, and an edge that lights along the top right. A flat one-pixel border on a dark ground is the tell of a section built before the system.
Paper, on light
A near-white fill, one hairline, and a shadow only if the card lifts under the pointer. No glass, no gradient stroke, no glow.
